From £70.00 (50 minute session)

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, especially when you're carrying emotional pain, uncertainty or feeling overwhelmed. James offers a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, feel genuinely heard and begin to make sense of whatever you're facing.

With over a decade of experience of supervised clinical practice, James has supported adults, young people and couples through a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. He is a long-standing member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with over a decade of membership, and works in accordance with the Association's ethical framework.

James is an experienced Integrative Humanistic Counsellor and Psychotherapist, blending Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt Therapy and Existential Therapy with specialist approaches for trauma, bereavement, addiction and youth counselling. As a relational therapist, he believes therapy works best when clients understand the process, so he takes time to explain how you will work together and why different therapeutic approaches may help.

Alongside his private practice, James has lectured on the University of Greenwich Counselling Degree programme and currently serves as Head of Clinical Practice for a global online counselling service. He oversees clinical standards while delivering workshops and seminars on mental health awareness, resilience, leadership wellbeing, stress management and coping strategies within organisations.

James has particular experience supporting clients with:

  • Anxiety and depression
  • Trauma and trauma-informed therapy
  • Bereavement and grief
  • Addiction and recovery
  • Relationship and couples counselling
  • Youth counselling (NHS Youth Counselling Service trained)
  • Workplace stress, burnout and leadership challenges
  • Men's mental health
  • Confidence and self-esteem
  • Coping strategies for educators and professionals in high-pressure roles
  • Walk and Talk Therapy in nature (specialist qualified)

James understands that every person's experience is unique. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, he works collaboratively with each client to create therapy that reflects their individual needs, goals and pace.

To make therapy as accessible and comfortable as possible, James offers in person sessions in a welcoming therapy room, online via secure video appointments, and, where appropriate following a risk assessment, through Walk and Talk Therapy in natural outdoor settings. Whatever format you choose, his priority is to provide a safe, supportive and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, process difficult experiences and move towards lasting emotional wellbeing.

Whether you're experiencing anxiety, navigating grief, recovering from trauma, struggling with relationships or simply feeling that life has become overwhelming, James aims to help you develop greater self-awareness, healthier coping strategies and renewed confidence to move forward.

James charges £70 for a 50-minute session.  James offers a free 20 minute phone consultation to answer any questions you may have how you might work together.
